The Apotheotic Order holds humanity’s creative faculty to be sacred.

By thought, speech and the work of their hands, human beings bring forth what did not previously exist, and give meaning to what does. Stories and symbols gather significance in the lives of those who encounter them, and may endure long after their makers are gone.

The Order’s purpose follows from this conviction. It seeks to support artistic creation and the pursuit of knowledge; to preserve art, cultural heritage, mythology and historical artifacts; to encourage the development and transmission of meaningful traditions; to protect conscious life and the freedom to create and experience meaning; and to cultivate and keep its own symbols and traditions.

The charge

To create. To encourage and partake in art, imagination, craftsmanship, study and inquiry, and the emergence of works not yet made. Literature, music, architecture, philosophy, myth and new creative media are all expressions of the same faculty.

To preserve. To care for the material and immaterial inheritance of humanity: its art and writings, its symbols, places and customs.

To uphold. To sustain meaningful traditions through sincere participation, and to protect the conscious lives by which meaning is experienced. To meet life with reverence, the world with wonder, and all living things with kindness.

The fellowship requires no single account of the divine. Those who share its purpose may approach it from different religious and philosophical convictions, and all may take part sincerely.
