The fellowship
Association, admission and the sworn charge
The Order welcomes those who recognise its purpose. Association, membership and knighthood are distinct forms of participation.
Associates
An associate is anyone who identifies with the Order’s purpose and takes it as their own. Association needs no application or registration, and involves no initiation, oath or formal obligation. Associates may adopt the Order’s symbolism, above all the Ankh; see Wearing the Ankh.
Members
Members are formally admitted into the fellowship and entrusted with its inner teachings. They observe the Order’s custom of private membership: they do not publicly announce that they belong, though they are free to speak of it privately with friends and trusted persons. Membership is a matter of discretion, not of absolute secrecy.
The Knights Apotheon
The knights are members who have undertaken the Order’s guarded oaths, solemnly committing themselves to uphold its principles and further its purpose. The general character of their commitment is public; the words of their oaths and the form of their rites are kept within the Order. See The Knights Apotheon.
Honorary knights
The Order may also confer the degree of Honorary Knight Apotheon, honoris causa, upon those whose lives or works exemplify its ideals. The honour may be conferred posthumously. Its recipients are entered upon the Roll of Honour. See Honorary Knights Apotheon.
Chapters and correspondence
Where members of the Order are gathered, they may form a chapter. The Order keeps no public record of its members. Those who wish to write to the Order may do so through correspondence.
